This two-year grant will provide commissioning funds that enable WHYY to expand its work with freelancers and reporters from racially and ethnically diverse media outlets who will produce programming for WHYY News. These efforts will be further supported by cultural competency training for WHYY staff and community engagement events that provide opportunities for conversations around divisive issues and pressing local and national concerns.

The 2020 Community Voices grant will support the disParities Media Project, a pilot media-making project that exposes the structural inequities affecting families with children in Norristown and Pottstown, where over 50% of the residents are Black and Brown. In partnership with ACLAMO and The Urban League, Children First will amplify the stories and lived experiences of these communities in search of justice and change.

The 2020 Community Voices grant will support a platform for Philadelphia-area youth reporters to share their experiences and stories—ultimately preserving the community's memory of the coronavirus and future health events as they unfold.

COVID-19 Emergency Fund to 2019 Grantees.

Nominated to receive a general operating grant.

To launch the Philadelphia COVID-19 Community Information Fund. $1 million of this grant supports Resolve Philadelphia's Equally Informed Initiative.

This two-year funder collaboration between Lenfest and IPMF will further these efforts by supporting cultural competency training for Inquirer staff as well as professional development, entrepreneurial skills, and creative opportunities for entry-level, mid-level and senior managers of color throughout the region. Alongside these concrete efforts, this collaboration will provide flexible funding for research, business assistance, and convening of Philadelphia-area multi-cultural media.

The grant will also help fund strategic planning for Resolve Philadelphia, a journalism project built on equity, collaboration among multiple media properties, and the elevation of community voices and solutions.

A one-year grant to support the incorporation of the Germantown Info Hub into a Community Wire Service—a network of hyperlocal bureaus meeting neighborhood information needs and serving as a mechanism for citywide authentic and accurate news coverage.

Three-year general operating and capacity building support.

This one-year grant supports continued capacity building, in order to help Resolve build an organizational structure that is value-aligned, a team that is mission-driven, and governance policies and practices that center equity, collaboration, and transparency.
